Inspiring white...

...so it is no surprise I love vintage furniture painted white...especially if it has a clean semi-gloss look!

When I went to a design conference put on by the very talented interior designer, Tobi Fairley...she asked us to take a look at where our inspiration comes from...and if you knew me, you would know...

...that I love my pearls...

Circa Who
...and my beloved white West Highland Terrier named Tuffy, which are maybe two reasons as to why I am drawn to the color white in my decor...

In addition, when I was moving into my first apartment as a senior in college (as that was the first year Vanderbilt allowed a student to live off campus)...my mother re-painted and re-upholstered several pieces of vintage furniture in a clean glossy white and updated upholstery...these pieces have made it through 7 moves and 11 years...and they are still my breakfast room furniture.

Needless to say...I think updating vintage furniture in a clean white look with updated upholstery...is a classic way to re-use some wonderful pieces from the past!

...and they can be such versatile pieces...

...or use a piece of white furniture in a room already full of color!

Southern Accents
...lastly...I love this look (that I posted about yesterday)...the combination of a truly aged antique, a glossy white piece of furniture...with vintage ironstone...and some seashells...such wonderful combinations!

Happy Sunday!

Wow fantastic post Caroline!! That was seriously a visual treat and I really enjoyed learning even more about you. And your breakfast room is absolutely stunning! In my previous home everything I had ended up painted white...my table, sideboard, dresser and I loved it! xx Danielle

Such beautiful images! I really love vintage furniture updated in a clean way as well. ANd I'm with you on the pearls! I tend to throw them on when I feel like I look tired because they brighten me up :)

Your post has convinced me to paint a few pieces of furniture white. Thank you! (I was having such a hard time deciding.)
