Nashville Opera Guild’s most sparkling evening, La Bella Notte is an annual celebration of fine dining and song in support of Nashville Opera’s education programs. Guests enjoy a gourmet meal with arias and musical favorites between each delicious course. |
This past Saturday evening...my husband and I had a fun time at Le Bella Notte (benefiting the Nashville Opera)...in between dinner courses... members of the opera would sing...and it was beautiful! Made me remember...
...which is a summer opera festival at Ash-Lawn Highland...home of James Monroe in Charlottesville, Virginia....which is located just passed Monticello (Thomas Jefferson's home).
Every summer, my parents would take my brother and me to see Carmen, The Marriage of Figaro, Don Giovanni and so forth...in a picturesque outdoor boxwood garden opera setting at Ash Lawn.
The peacock is a symbol as Ash Lawn has roaming peacocks and during intermission...while everyone was eating their boxed dinners on the lawn...the peacocks would make it into the trees surrounding the stage...and would let their presence be known during the final acts...
It was such a special place that we had our wedding reception at Ash Lawn Highland...

Sounds like a lovely evening. I love peacocks. They often roam the area where my in-laws live. A little noisy at night, but otherwise beautiful to watch!
