We will be taking over Holly's old space at the Westgate Center on Hwy 100...right at the Hwy 100 & 70 split in Nashville!

...Holly's is moving just a few doors down into a larger space...

Hopefully, we will open the 2nd week of March...more to come!

Weekend Find: A Console Table...

I almost did not go into the basement of an estate sale this past weekend...but I peaked in there...and first saw a lot of University of Tennessee orange (as you can tell in the background)....but once I was able to see past all the orange...I saw this Chinoiserie-style console table!

...just needs a little cleaning and paint.

But it got me thinking about console tables and how creative you can be with them in your home...

Hey Nashville: This weekend's estate sales!

There seems to be 2 really good estate sales this weekend...the first pictures are from a sale in Franklin, TN being put on by American Classical Estate Sales.

The sofa above...may be perfect as is! But would look great re-covered too...

...and this set of chairs...there are several of them...they have a great shape.

These end tables...would look great with a coat of paint.

Some fun vintage lamps...just change out the shade...and some seemingly good chinoiserie framed prints!

Lamps to me are up there with shoes and handbags...I could collect them forever! So I have had fun looking at possible lamp options that I may see at market this week...

I love using vintage lamps (like the gorgeous alabaster versions above with updated drum shades) on a newer console table...and then vice versa...a new lamp on a vintage piece of furniture...love the mix in ages and/or styles!

...not the best picture...but here is a lamp (actually there are two...one on each side of this console in our entry way)...I recently found and could not pass up for my own home!

I dropped in on Thursday and bought the above green & white striped skirt (it matches this green/white bench cushion pretty well)...and these cute black flats...all at amazingly good prices!

Just a little bargain shopping...

I love finding great items for less...so I stop by TJ Max and Tuesday Morning whenever I have a free moment to see if there is a find...

My favorites are the Bellevue, 100 Oaks and Brentwood TJ Max stores...

This time I was at the Bellevue location and found lots of great lamps...like these clear ones by Ralph Lauren...very heavy...and the lampshade was not that bad either.

This console...even though, not the best quality (but not that bad either)...is such a great size (tall and slender) for a hallway and has a great shape.

I would just paint it a different color (for me)...and it could be very useful for the price of $125.00!

Loved this little gold cube lamp...loved it!

...and love shell details on lamps...like this capiz shell piece...just needs a different lampshade as this shade was a bit shiny.

Oh, and this gold swing arm lamp...shade and all was perfect!

...and all the lamps were priced between $49.00- $79.00...

Off to Tuesday Morning in Green Hills...

Even though, these were on sale with the Christmas decorations...I think they can be used all winter long...they were 50% off!

...more shell details...love the white capiz shell decorative balls (minus the green one)...they were around $5.00/each!

...and this serving set...I think it was $19.00...loved it...and almost bought it, but remembered that I really don't need them....

Another fun place is Southeastern Salvage in the Berry Hill/100 Oaks area...Matters of Style (click here for details) just featured their shopping trip to a Southeastern Salvage store in South Carolina...the Nashville store carries most of the same fabulous items at great prices!

Christmas in Charlottesville!

Tuffy at the Rotunda!

We had a wonderful visit to Charlottesville, VA for the holidays with my family...and I had a few seconds to stop by a couple of my favorite stores!

First up is one of the flagship Caspari stores located on the Historic Downtown Mall...we were there at 10 am (when the doors opened) the day after Christmas for their annual 50% off sale!

I was having a big case of camera store shyness (meaning I did not take any pictures) so all of these images are off the stores' respective website...

Love this store!!

Next up, Patina Antiques on Ivy Road...

Antiques, vintage and new items all mixed in together...at great price points...my favorite mix!

A sink skirt...

...the sink skirts and drapery came in at the end of last week!

This bathroom will need a tile overhaul in the next year...but for now we painted the walls white and added this skirt until it is time for a bigger change, which really will just be changing out the tile...and possibly a little wallpaper!

...so the estate sales in Nashville this weekend are not that plentiful...therefore, I have decided to do a post on designer Megan Young (click here for her website)...

...her look uses lots of collected pieces that you can be on the look out for at estates sales and either use as is...re-upholster or re-paint and then add a few new items to keep the look current...

So many of Megan's designs in her portfolio look like she used the client's style and collections and represented them so well!

Oh, and the bedrooms she has designed...

...and just had to post this fabulously detailed loveseat...

...simple, yet so detailed!

And...

...the bare stairs...the old stair runner was taken up earlier this week and the new stair runner goes in tomorrow...so Tuffy can finally go up and down the stairs again!

...thinking about doing something like this in the back of the living room...we need a casual eating area that can also double as a secondary seating area in the living room.

We have a bamboo settee and lots of bentwood side chairs already that will work nicely...I may go with a skirted table instead of a tulip table...like this burlap one...but in the ivory burlap (love the fringe)...we will see!

I was thinking about finding a really large sisal area rug and layering the Persian on top of it...but may just add a two of these 5'x8' taupe & white striped rugs on either end of the Persian...

...rugs must be on my mind this week...

...most likely because the rug installers are in our home right now ripping out the old stair runner and later this week will be putting in the new sisal stair runner...

...stumbled across these possibly 1960's vintage Italian gilt rope and tassel pieces at one of my favorite thrift stores outside of Nashville...the side table above...

I bought them immediately...but due to the 2 wingback chairs in my car already...that are going to be re-upholstered for the dining room...I have to go back and pick these guys up sometime this weekend!

...found this great vintage metal bamboo chair/table set for the little store...

...and a pair of adorable french provincial end tables...

...can you see that dresser back there...can't wait until it has a glossy coat of paint on it!

...I am really loving blue and green right now...just ordered some more of this...

to add some large 22-24" pillows for the sofa in the living room! The pillows currently on the sofa are just temporary and a little on the small side....

...but I do want to hang these blue vintage bird prints that are in gilded bamboo frames...

...the blues really do go with each other...the fabric sample is a little off when viewed on the computer...

Oh...we were able to use the fireplace the other night...

On the search for lanterns...

The above image is what I want the front entrance to look like...except I am going to go for a glossy black on the door...and I have been on the search for well-priced oversized lanterns like in the above and below images...

Country Living via Cottage & Vine

So I found this one...

Not the best picture and it really does not look as big as it actually is...but the lantern is around 35 inches in height and 13.5 inches in width...which gives me that oversized look.

However,

I do not like the seeded glass (I prefer clear glass) and I love the mirrored back in the 1st image...so here is my plan:

1. Change out the seeded glass with clear glass at the local glass store.

2. Change out the back glass with a mirror...at the same glass store.

We will see!!

...remember almost everything is 30% off in my little store at Gas Lamp...last day is today. This week...the space will be re-painted as new items come in!

...just a few shots of the new living room...a lot used from the old home...and some blank spots open for some new artwork to be acquired in the future!

...a few of the details...

The above is an iron plant stand from the Nashville Flea Market that I had a piece of glass made for (from my favorite local glass company...Russell's Glass & Mirror)...little vintage brass bird from an estate sale...

...the acrylic clam shell that I found at the Salvation Army on Charlotte...which is no longer there anymore...

...this is a cotton bail (I think that is what you call it?)...which was given to my husband by his parents years ago...great for extra seating or a foot rest...

...more to tweak in the future (like some lucite curtain rods)...but just a nice fresh start now!

Almost forgot...the Tailgate Antique Show is at the Nashville Fairgrounds this weekend...click here for details.

In addition, practically everything in my "little store" at Gas Lamp is 30% off until October 31st...making way for new things!
