A great read!

....Coco and Kelly's creator....Cassandra LaValle is an inspiring designer, blogger and event planner...I loved this piece that she did in Canadian House & Home about decorating...the mixing of new and old, fresh white on vintage pieces, pops of color and updated patterns...and not taking design too seriously (you need some fun in there!)...are my cliffs notes!  See more below....

New Plantation Style Vignette

Update antiques with white paint and classic patterned prints.
"Taking traditional pieces and giving them a clean, modern style is really what this generation of design is all about, and this vignette expresses that melding of old and new perfectly," explains Cassandra. "I remember the first time I saw this space. I was incredibly inspired by the mix of fresh white against the gilded chair frame, the popular David Hicks pattern on an antique chair and clean modern art paired with the painted console."

Room design: Sara Ruffin Costello
Aqua Coloured Living Room
A playful paint shade relaxes luxe traditional details like the chandelier and marble fireplace mantel.
"There are certain rooms that have an impact on you as a designer," says Cassandra. "This one played a huge role in teaching me to embrace colour and pattern, while gaining a true appreciation for a space that doesn't take itself too seriously. It's a perfect example of how a somewhat formal style can still be fun! I especially love the flea-market feel, where the more you look, the more you discover little details and treasures," she adds.

....love the brass vase with the greek key design!

...these vintage ceramic bamboo-style napkin rings are one of my favorite finds!

...re-arranged the SPRIG candles by Nest fragrances!

....just a larger view of the Franklin Antique Mall booth...

...yes, that is me in my tennis outfit in the mirror at the Gas Lamp booth...I usually do a good job of keeping myself out of the pictures...but not here:)

...view of the vintage faux bamboo cabinet...I put some new items inside!

....love this owl figurine!

...very excited about the 2 1/2 weeks that my "new" little stores have been going!  It is so sweet to hear what shoppers and friends are saying....makes me feel like I am doing something worthwhile!

What I found....

Isn't this Estate Horse Statue so sophisticated?  This piece is located in a wonderful booth in the Franklin Antique Mall!

As you can see with my blog and booths, I love to go with a clean, white semi-gloss look with my re-furbished vintage furniture to make the pieces feel fresh and up to date!
...my booth at Gas Lamp Antiques...

But I think it is very important to add truly aged pieces like the Estate Horse Statue or the Vintage Elephant Stand (see below)....into the whole decor scheme!

....a vintage ceramic elephant plant stand/side table in my Franklin and Gas Lamp Booths....

The Estate Horse Statue would add some muted tones to colorful pillows/fabrics and would give that authentically aged feeling, which is a wonderful contrast to cleanly painted vintage furniture.  When you mix and match decor styles you can achieve a very charming, collected and layered feel.

The Estate Horse Statue would also look great in the popular "Belgian" look that you can find in many magazines, design blogs...and especially now in Restoration Hardware!

....and any type of horse figurine...gives such a sophisticated touch!

Oh, this picture did not turn out well!!   But these Foo Dogs are located at another great booth at the Franklin Antique Mall.

I love, love, love small Asian-inpsired touches to any decor look!  Foo dogs are great to incorporate as book-ends (as they are here), as a lamp or as a little figurine on a table.

I really love these book-ends since they inject a nice color...a fun turquoise that is not too bright and not too muted...so they would work well with many different color schemes!

I also love having an Asian-inspired "find" dotted in a room here and there...it especially gives traditional decor a nice updated twist without having to update everything!

The above Asian-inspired coffee table is on the Nashville Craigslist....for $145.00...a great price!

...another fun Asian-inspired touch is a bamboo piece (or in this case a metal bamboo-inspired tray table)...which is in my booth at the Franklin Antique Mall...for $130.00.

The Estate Horse Statue and the Foo Dog Book Ends are in some wonderful booths at the Franklin Antique Mall in Franklin, Tennessee...and at very reasonable prices!

Enjoy!
